Please read the following booking conditions carefully, as they set out the terms and conditions of the contract between you and Tanzanite Travels Africa (“Tanzanite Travels”).
Quotations and Bookings
All quotations include a summary of these terms and conditions below.
Suppliers Terms & Conditions have to be adhered to as well. Such can be provided at the time of booking, when requested.
It is important to note that various service providers may impose special terms and conditions regarding deposits, payments, and cancellation fees and / or refunds from time to time. All reservations would be subject to these additional conditions.
Check in and check out times for most hotels and lodges are check in at 14:00 and check out at 10:00 or 11:00. Please keep this in mind when making any of your own travel arrangements.
Special requests: We can pass on any special requests that you may wish to make at the time of booking, but acceptance of such requests is at the discretion of the supplier and in no circumstances are special requests guaranteed. Confirmation that a special request has been noted or passed on to the supplier is not confirmation that the request will be met.
Prices
All quotations generated by Tanzanite Travels are based upon external supplier costs such as air fares, airport taxes, fuel surcharges, car hire, park fees and gate fees which are beyond our control.
Should any costs increase, it will be for your own account and shall be payable to Tanzanite Travels.
We will always work with suppliers to minimise any monetary increases that might possibly impact your booking. We will always communicate any cost increases with you beforehand and these are limited to airlines, road transportation companies and government bodies/institutions.
Changes to travel dates
If you wish to make a change to your booking, we will endeavour to assist you to make the change wherever this is possible. You will need to pay all charges, of whatever kind, imposed by the suppliers providing that component part of your travel arrangements when amending a booking any time prior to departure. Fares will be re-quoted at the time of amendment.
Cancellations
If you wish to cancel your booking you must advise your agent immediately, who will in turn advise our suppliers.
Any additional charges/cancellation fees will be determined by the supplier, and this will be communicated to you once confirmed.
Unscheduled extensions
All expenses (hotel accommodation, cancellation fees etc.) in relation to unscheduled extensions caused by flight delays, bad weather, strikes or any other cause which is beyond the control of Tanzanite Travels, will be for the client’s account.
Payment
Electronic Funds Transfers: We accept EFT transfers deposited into our bank accounts in various currencies (ZAR, GBP, USD and EUR). We include bank details in our invoices depending on which currency is preferred by the client, we have accounts in different markets with international payment service WISE. We include a bank transfer fee of 3% on all invoices to cover costs incurred, as well as tax amounts where applicable. If any additional bank transfer fees are incurred these will be for the client’s account.
Travel documents and visas
All travel documents, visas, package inclusions and exclusions and all contact details are the client’s responsibility and must be checked by the client prior to departure to ensure accuracy and validity.
If you are travelling across borders, please ensure you have the correct visas to avoid any delays.
The client shall be responsible for all costs, should visas or travel documentation not be accepted. Travel documentation includes: passports, vouchers and airline tickets.
Please note that anyone travelling to Southern Africa must have at least two consecutive blank pages in their passport which lie side by side when the passport is open (i.e. a left and a right-hand page) per country that is visited. Passengers travelling to Southern Africa with passports which do not comply with these requirements, will either be stopped from boarding the aircraft or risk deportation on arrival in Southern Africa.
Passports are required by all foreign visitors and must be valid for at least 6 months after the intended length of stay.

Travel Insurance
We strongly advise our clients to take out insurance covering cancellations, medical expenses, and loss of baggage, curtailment and default at the time of booking.
Health
Certain parts covered by your itinerary may be in areas where there is a high-risk of malaria, yellow fever, and other tropical diseases. We strongly recommend that the necessary precautions be taken in this regard and recommend that you check with your medical practitioner before departure or a medical practitioner well versed in tropical diseases immediately upon your arrival in Africa or any other tropical or sub-tropical destination.
Flight and other travel timings
We cannot make any flight bookings without clear passport copies; please send these to us as soon as you are ready to confirm your booking.
Flight timings are provided by airlines and are subject to Air Traffic Control restrictions. All means of transportation are subject to weather conditions, the need for constant maintenance, and the ability of passengers to check-in on time. There is no guarantee that flights, ferries, ships, trains, or coaches will depart at the times stated in any itinerary or tickets which you receive. All timings are estimates only, and we do not accept any liability for any delay, however arising, or for any schedule alterations.
When flying locally, please ensure you check-in 1.5 hours prior to flight departure time.
When flying Internationally, please ensure you check-in 2.5 hours prior to flight departure time.
Airline refund procedures
Refund policies of the various airlines vary between airlines. Should you cancel your flights a claim will be presented to the relevant airline for assessment. Should a refund be authorised, such refund will be made to you by Tanzanite Travels once the refund has been received from the airline, less any cancellation or administration charges.
Partly used tickets will be refunded at less than the pro rata rate on the face value of such ticket.
Refunds may take up to 12 weeks to process although this time frame cannot be guaranteed by Tanzanite Travels.
Force Majeure
All/Any expenses passengers might incur due to circumstances beyond our control such as flight cancellation/delays, accidents of any nature, bad weather, natural calamities, medical evacuation, supplier policies, etc are for the clients account.
Except where otherwise expressly stated in these booking conditions, we regret we cannot accept liability or pay any compensation where the performance or prompt performance of our contractual obligations is prevented or affected, or you otherwise suffer any damage or loss, as a result of “force majeure”. In these Booking Conditions, “force majeure” means any event which we or the supplier of the service(s) in question could not, even with all due care, foresee or avoid. Such events may also include war or threat of war, riot, civil strife, terrorist activity or actual threatened terrorist activity, industrial dispute, natural or nuclear disaster, adverse weather conditions, epidemics such as SARS, Coronavirus and the like, wild animal activity, fire, flooding and all similar events outside our control.
Limitation of liability
Tanzanite Travels merely act as a service broker and do not accept any liability for any loss or damage which any client may suffer, as a result of the failure of such principals to fulfil their obligations, whether in relation to travel arrangements, medical care, accommodation, facilities, package features or otherwise.
Tanzanite Travels will under no circumstances be liable for any claim whatsoever, unless such claim is due to the gross negligence of the Operator and such claim is lodged in writing with Tanzanite Travels within 30 (thirty) days after the end of the tour program. Under no circumstances will Tanzanite Travels be liable for any indirect or consequential loss or damage.
The Agent and his / her client will be liable for all legal fees on an attorney and own client scale in the event that Tanzanite Travels has to engage a lawyer to enforce any of its rights or otherwise.
The client/passenger accepts any and all risks associated with his or her intended excursion/travel plans to the venue in question, and whilst at such venue as a guest of the principal.
For damages – Neither Tanzanite Travels, nor any person acting for, through or on behalf of Tanzanite Travels, shall be liable for any loss, damages, accidents, delay, death or inconvenience to any person or his or her luggage or other property, howsoever caused or which may arise as a result of the negligence or any act or omission on the part of Tanzanite Travels or its principals.
Disputes
The client consents to the jurisdiction of the South African Magistrate’s Court where any legal dispute arises, notwithstanding that the amount in issue may exceed the limits of such jurisdiction.
Confidentiality
Tanzanite Travels undertakes to deal with all agent and client information on a strictly confidential basis.

The Client and Authority
The person requesting such quotations or estimates or making such booking or to whom any service is rendered, is deemed to have read, and accepted the Conditions and to have the authority to do so on behalf of the person in whose name the estimate or quotation or reservation is requested and/or provided and/or the person to whom the services are rendered (collectively referred to as “the Client”).
